Why does ears produce wax?

To protect your ear canal from bacteria and dust jamming there. Wax get out of your ear pushing everything from inside to out.
Odd as it may sound, to keep the ear clean. The earwax forms a protective layer to shield the interior of the ear from being infected by bacteria, fungi, etc.
