Regular fuel contains a lot of aromatics, ethanol (most of the time) and lots of additives like detergents to ‘clean’ your fuel system. Use Alkylate fuel (like Aspen or aviation fuel if you can get it) for more shelf life. I put it in my garden machinery for the last run of the season and never have any issues the next time I use it.
Car gas is garbage but we use it so fast, we don’t really notice.
