Why does Google always show that there are way more results on a search than there actually are?

Google says that this got 22 billion results, but there are only about 260 results.

Google studies human behaviour and sees that almost no one is interested in exploring beyond page 15 or 16 of results.

If you don’t find what you are looking for, you are more likely to rephrase your query and ask again. This means that google gets to sell extra ads.

It also saves them money because they can optimise for fewer pages of results. Their investment can focus on speed and ads.

I’m currently exploring a very interesting alternative www.Kagi.com
