By and large there haven’t been many major innovations in science and technology that would allow giant leaps in consumer products. Most improvement is incremental due to minor improvements in manufacturing making it viable to produce slightly better products at scale for a price point the market will bear.

You can have giant leaps of improvement every 5-10 years if you like, as long as you’re willing to pay exponentially more per [FLOP|Hz|core|byte] for your components and have nothing released between that cycle.
