Your bladder is like a balloon and can only hold so much fluid. When it’s full you feel pain, that’s your bodies way of telling you to empty it before there’s a problem.
Tycho Brahe is an interesting historical example. He died from his bladder bursting at a banquet because at that time it was considered rude to get up from the banquet and go relieve yourself.
Your bladder is over stretched. Then when you pee it starts to contract which can be a bit painful too.
Don’t hold your pee in that long very often though. It can weaken the bladder muscles and make you incontinent (pee yourself).
