Why does inflammation often cause problems?

So I recently found out I got gallstones (I’m 16 so I don’t quite know how I got them at such a young age, my guess is a very unhealthy lifestyle that I had from 13-15) and had an excruciating gallstone attack. The second I received an anti-inflammatory medication, however, the gallstone either passed or moved back into the gallbladder. This means the inflammation trapped it in the tube leading out of the gallbladder.
Is inflammation really necessary?

Anti-inflammatories don’t work instantly. Depending on which one you were given they can take several hours to reach full effect. It’s more likely just coincidence that at the moment you were given the tablet the stone passed, they usually only take a few hours and when they pass the relief from pain is pretty much instantaneous.
