Why does it feel like douchebags get away with everything? And ‘good’ people are held back?

Lately I’ve caught myself falling into a doom spiral.
At work and on the news, everywhere it feels like assholes are getting their way.

People break rules and traditions, but get no pushback. And people like myself can’t compete. Because if we poke a toe over the line, we get reprimanded.

Is this just a bias in my mind? Am I seeing only the negatives for some reason?

And if so? Why?

(Resubmitted because I forgot the bit)

Dorchebags walk around throwing shit at every wall they see, but only only some of it sticks. You walk by and only see the shit that is sticking to the walls. Then the one single time you want to stick your shit to the wall it doesn’t work, and since you don’t have much experience throwing shit at walls you get it all over yourself.

You’re just focused on the D-bags who actually get away with it and the good people are actually are held back.

Plenty of people who are assholes do get what’s coming to then (losing a job or relationship, going to prison, etc) and there are many honest people who live successful lives.
