why does it sometimes take much longer to dry off after a shower?

Normally when I get out of the shower I can quickly dry off and stay dry in just a couple minutes if that. However when I shower after working out it takes like 20 minutes before my hair will start to dry and 15 minutes until my chest and back starts staying dry. Why does it take so much longer and what can I do to prevent it?

Ambient humidity is one factor. If you’re taking a shower at the gym instead of home, it’s probably more humid there which will extend drying time. The other thing to consider is you just worked out so you’re still sweating for a while even if you shower so you will continue to stay wet longer.
