Why does Jupiter’s colors are separated like that?

Those bands in Jupiter’s atmosphere are called zones (lighter colored bands) and and belts (the darker colored bands). The zones have more ammonia ice at higher altitudes, which causes them to appear lighter in color. The zones and bands are separated by wind shear from jet streams, which are similar to the jet streams on Earth except on Jupiter they’re much larger and more powerful.
