The biggest difference between summer and winter is the amount of sunlight available.
As such, if you can replace that sunlight with artificial sunlight, that contains all the right wavelengths (for both the special cells in the eyes that set our circadian rhythm and the skin cells that produce vitamin D) then *theoretically* it should fix all the problems.
It doesn’t seem to work for everyone, but it does seem to work for some people – so that theory is clearly incomplete, but may well be part of the picture.
