Why does metal ‘fold’ at the same interval?

I’m a sucker for those ‘satisfying’ hydraulic press videos decimating various substances. I noticed the press vs. steel videos shows the metal bending into near folds at what appears to be uniform spacing between folds.

I have a guess but I don’t want to be wrong. ELI5?

TL:DR why does steel in a hydraulic press bend every 1-2 inches consistently instead of randomly?

The steel is of uniform thickness and composition with pretty much no meaningful variance in its strength along the entire length.
