Why does ND have electric Co-Ops, but places such as CA have private companies?

The coops came about because people were so rural and such low population density it wasn’t profitable for companies to run power lines so residents banded together and did it themselves.

North Dakota is more spread out with fewer people, so it’s not very profitable for private companies to supply electricity. So, people in North Dakota work together in groups called co-ops to get electricity. In California, there are lots of people close together, so private companies can make money.

yo that’s kinda wild. i guess it’s about who’s runnin the show. co-ops are like local squad goals while private ones just wanna cash in. guess it’s all about the vibe of the place. either way at least peeps are gettin power in both places.
