For example, let’s say you have a toothache, you don’t go to dentist, but you can’t stand pain so you go lay down and sleep for a few hours, when you wake up the sharp pain is gone and it stays away for a while.
You didn’t fix the issue, is it just after sleeping the body mental blocks it till next flare up?

You did do something to fix the issue: you held almost perfectly still several hours.
In the case of tooth pain, that pain is caused by chewing, salivating, talking or breathing with your mouth. When you’re asleep, your mouth is generally closed and mostly inactive. Not surprising that the tooth pain goes away.
This is why doctors generally advise you to rest and stay inactive when you’re sick or injured. Doing nothing is the best way to stop almost any kind of problem from being irritated while your body fixes it.
