Why does perception of a face differ from person to person?

Recently my friends and I got into an argument as to who Tom Pelphrey resembled more: Keanu Reeves or Fred Armisen. I said he resembled Fred Armisen but almost everyone else in my friend group said Keanu. This is not a standalone incident as I’ve found that even in case of people I’ve known for sometime, I perceive faces a bit differently than others. What could be the cause?

I think another factor is that some people focus on other people’s eyes, and some focus on mouths. If you’re watching tv, especially on a large screen, try changing your focus that way and you might be surprised how people look different.
