Why does pitching things up make them louder?

Think of sound waves as ocean waves.
Low pitch waves are long and infrequent. If you’re standing on the surf, they crash on you say twice a minute.
High pitch waves crash more frequently. If they are the same amplitude (height) as the low pitch waves, you’re getting hit with waves more frequently. This is transferring more energy in the same amount of time, making the sound louder.
