By the time someone is resorting to reverse psychology, usually the person they’re trying to convince has already gotten the point that the first person REALLY wants them to do this thing, so they just think “Ok, fine, you’re now being sarcastic, I’m not going to tire you out, I’ll DO IT.” (or the sarcasm makes them feel guilty about not following the first person so they try to follow what the first person wanted).
