Title. Whenever I eat Kraft Mac and Cheese shapes, it tastes far superior to regular Kraft Mac and cheese despite seeming like they should be identical minus the shape of the noodles

Everybody’s talking about surface area ratios, but nobody’s looked at the ingredients: the recipes are different.

Looking at the ingredient list for regular and “Paw Patrol” shape mac and cheese, the Paw Patrol stuff has no durum flour, a bit of whole wheat flour, the cheese sauce is basically the same but it has a bit less fat and salt, and a bit more sugar than regular Mac and Cheese.

Most likely the food scientists over at Kraft tweaked the recipe to appeal to different markets. Parents buying stuff for their kids make different choices than adults who end up eating a whole box of the stuff in front of the TV at 2:00 a.m.
