Why does the color blue stick more to things?

When I used to dye my hair, colors like pink, red, orange and even purple would wash off after a couple of weeks, but blue just stayed on forever. After a month you could still see a tiny bit of blue tint. Now, I work with printer ink, and noticed that Black, Magenta and Yellow come off my hands pretty easily on the first wash, but the blue stays for around two days. Is there a chemical explanation to this? Am I just crazy?

Skin and hair have a natural reddish/brownish/yellowish tint. If there was a trace of pink, red, or orange dye left on them, it would be hard to notice because it would just blend in with your natural pigmentation. Blue, however, is the opposite of yellow/orange, so it’s much more visible and you’d be able to see it better on skin and hair, even in a very small amount. Also, as the other poster mentioned, they probably add more dye to blues *because* it has to do more work to “cancel out” the natural hues of your skin and hair.
