When you are drunk your body is more loose. You don’t really expect the impact like a normal cognitive person would. So when you are aware you can tense up which could cause more injury than a loose not expecting it individual

Because they usually hit someone else. All the safety features for the car work best when you hit something head on. Side impact is the worst case. So the drunk is usually getting the best case crash scenario while the victims get the full variance of best to worse.
