Why does the human body get stiff then drop when shot?

Hello, I always get cop cam videos of police shootouts on YouTube, every time the cops shoot a person, their body gets stiff then drops (obviously drops because they got shot and probably dies but why does the body get stiff?).

The nervous system is reacting to the pain stimulus of being shot. You body tenses up to protect itself but it is too late. Then it relaxes, you start bleeding and eventually die if the wound isn’t treated.

Also television has taught us that if you get shot you fall down. So subconsciously we all expect that to happen which actually is self fulfilling. No gun is powerful enough to knock you down because it would knock the shooter down as well. It can knock you off balance but it’s more the pain, shock, and subconscious expectation that causes you to fall.
