Answer: The moon isn’t changing colour but the light reflecting from it is while entering the earth

It’s a combination of factors, but almost all of them are atmospheric and have nothing to do with the moon itself.

Dust and other things in the air will make moons red, white is the most normal color as the moon is a dusty grey, and blue moons are just two full moons in the same month. Good with a slice of orange.

What do you mean blue? The term “blue moon” doesn’t mean the moon really turns blue at all.

During lunar eclipses the moon turns red. That’s because most of the sun is blocked and the only light reaching the moon comes from the sunsets then happening around the world. Anyone who can see the moon sees this effect.

Another way for the moon to appear more red than normal is when it rises or sets, just as the sun does. This is purely a local atmospheric effect and, to people elsewhere in the world who can see the moon high in the sky, it looks normal.

Other commenters have covered why the moon sometimes looks red or gold but they haven’t explained a ‘blue’ moon.

‘Blue’ moons happen when there are 2 full moons in one calendar month. The actual colour of the moon doesn’t change at all.

I could be wrong but I don’t belive the moon is ever actually blue, please correct me if I’m wrong. a blue moon is when there are two full moons in one month.
