Why does the sun change color during sunrise and sunset?

The sun is white, so all the light we see from the sun should be white.

Usually, when the sun is above you, we see the sky as blue because blue light bounces around in air more than other colours.

During sunrise and sunset, the sun is at an angle and so the light has to pass through a lot more air. This let’s the blue light bounce around so much that not much of it ends up getting to our eyes, leaving the rest of the colours for us to see.
