You can make the sun look bigger in a photograph by using a telescopic lens.

You can make it look smaller by using a camera with a very short focal distance like on your cell phone.

In reality it’s approximately the same apparent size as the moon – although you probably only get a good look directly at the sun near sunrise and sunset.

Both the sun and the moon look smaller when they’re high in the sky because there’s no ground clutter for comparison.
