Our brains tend to measure time in terms of novel experiences; new things are the milestones of your memory.

When you’re a kid, every experience is a new one; you’re constantly seeing new things, so there’s just so many blocks in the road to look at.

When you’re older, there’s larger gaps between new experiences. You have fewer milestones, so everything in between just kinda washes away. Time flies.
