why does wind make a whistle sound I always thought it was only in movies until I heard it myself?

It’s not really the wind that makes a whistling, it’s wind past objects that makes a whistle. Wind blowing past ropes, twigs, other thin things that can vibrate. A good gust of wind traveling through trees will make more of a roaring noise, past the end of a fence or similar sharp pointed thing can make a higher pitched vibration like a whistle.
