Well yes, but you and your body are not entirely in control of what’s going on.
The disease tricks your body into producing mucous which it uses to spread copies of itself to other hosts.
Bubbling up and expelling the virus is considered a good thing to your immune system. Those are bacteria or virus cells that they don’t have to fight.
Too much mucus and your nose gets blocked though. Which isn’t optimum for either the disease nor your immune system. But it doesn’t have to be ideal, it just has to be good enough to keep going.
