Why doesn’t water react violently when we drink it?

We’re always taught in chem class to “add acid” due to how volatile it is. When water is added to hydrochloric acid it can boil and spit. Does this happen in our stomachs too or is something preventing this?

The hydrochloric acid in the stomach is already quite dilute. Also, the amount present is very small, which isn’t enough to react violently.

The rule that acid should be added to water and not the opposite only applies to the dilution of some concentrated acids that results in a strongly exothermic reaction(lots of heat is produced).
