why have convertible cars fallen?

Convertibles are not very practical. I owned a hard top convertible jeep for a long time, which is one of the least practical convertibles of all time. Converted it only a handful of times. Highway speeds were unfun (loud and wind whips too hard); if it’s too hot or too cold, air conditioning is far more comfortable; soft tops are not well insulated; the hardtop for the jeep is not convenient – the panels are big and need to be stored (even cars with automatic conversions have a lack of storage space); combined with the other factors, even a small chance of rain makes it too risky to convert; dust, sand, leaves – the interior gets dirty; conversion requires moving parts and therefore more things that can break. Basically, rolling down the windows combined with a sunroof provides 99% the benefits of a convertible without the downsides.
