For most wounds the body isn’t growing a significant amount of tissue. A lbs of tissue would be a massive wound. Usually it’s just reconnecting a cut or broken bone.

The average newborn is ~7-8 lbs. From a single cell. In about 9 months. That’s not counting the placenta and other support tissues.

Pregnancy requires a significant amount of resources to grow a baby and prepare the mother for nursing.

Because you are quite Literally building a whole other person inside of you… that requires not only massive adjustments of ressources for instance breast milk production and several hormonal cascades, which kick off other processes for instance fat accumulation is different on pregnancy too.

You basically have massive hormonal cascades putting the body into build and construct new stuff mode… not too dissimilar to how puberty kicks off lots of bodily change…in addition you have a whole other person inside of you more or less actively leeching ressources off the mother.

Which is also why having parasitic worms is also hella exhausting for humans..heck any animal even. in this case we just have a lifeform in our body leeching ressources we aren’t supposed to have in there in the first place…sharing ressources with another lifeform is just straining.
