As for it making you less depressed, from my own experience, booze only ever made me feel good for a very short time, and if I kept drinking, I would inevitably get a “alcohol-depressions”.
Now, it’s been a long time since I partied hard, and it probably also had to do with my maturity level at the time, as well as raging hormones.
Literally, every time I went out to clubs in my 20s, there would at some point be chicks crying about stupid, dramatic shit (myself included every once in a while), and the guys would get in fights.
I think with alcohol, there is only a small window where it maybe lifts your mood, before it takes a turn for Shit Town.
