They obviously are the same but one is more formal in writing, Cannot. Can’t is a contraction of cannot used in informal writing. Can not is used when it is before a phrase with “not”, such as “not only, “I can not only”.

“Can’t” is the contracted form of cannot. Same as “would’ve” is the contracted form of “would have”. Contractions aren’t (are not) really different spellings like “color” and “colour” as much as they are different forms of the same word.
