why is cast iron okay to not clean?

Why is it considered okay to eat off cast iron that has never been cleaned, aka seasoned? I think people would get sick if I didn’t wash my regular pans, yet cast iron is fine.

You can definitely clean cast irons. However the reality is that if you just rinse and scrub away any food particles then your pan(regardless if its cast iron) is safe to use again.

Food particles become toxic over time but if they are scrubbed away then soap or cleaning isn’t neccesary if you end up heating the pan before eating anything from it anyway, which you do with any kind of cooking.
