why is cheap olive oil and honey usually sourced from different countries?

I can’t imagine sourcing from a variety of countries is cheaper than coming from one source. I also can’t imagine it’s a blended scotch situation. I’ve wondered that about certian things as well. In Canada for example we get most of our lamb for Australia or New Zealand. The thing is that most all our beef, pork and chicken comes from Canada. But for some reason lamb comes from New Zealand or Australia.
