why is cheap olive oil and honey usually sourced from different countries?

I can’t imagine sourcing from a variety of countries is cheaper than coming from one source. I also can’t imagine it’s a blended scotch situation. You should not discount the blended scotch option. Foods are blended are often blended to maintain a consistent flavor. A single batch of olive oil might not be great on its own. Therefore they take different batches from different producers who might have a specific flavor profile. Experts can combine these to make a remarkably consistent tasting product.
