Why is fusion always “30 years away?”

1.62K viewsOtherPhysics

It seems that for the last couple decades fusion is always 30 years away and by this point we’ve well passed the initial 30 and seemingly little progress has been made.

Is it just that it’s so difficult to make efficient?

Has the technology improved substantially and we just don’t hear about it often?

Def no fusion by 2050, that much I can guarantee. Also the world economies are now focusing towards war. The relative era of Peace of the early 21st century has now come to an end. We are moving towards WW3.

The main concern with fusion is containment, and that has always been the case. Containing that much temperature and pressure on a large scale is not easily solvable.
