I *think* it’s from [The Office](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWfrMMNeK2k), where Michael asks one of his employees to explain something to him “like I am an 8 year old.” But he still doesn’t understand that version, so he asks for it to be dumbed down again, for a 5 year old.
