Why is it easier to dissolve sugar or salt in hot water than in cold water?

You need to supply energy to the bonds in the compound, atoms to break them down and hot water has more energy than cold water

If I remember correctly, it’s about collisions. Molecules need to collide with one another to have a reaction. Since molecule move around more (and faster) at higher temperatures, more collisions happen.

Or, even more simply: those molecules are like cars in a demolition derby. If the cars are cold and moving slowly, they just kinda bump each other. If the cars are zipping around, though, they’ll smash and fall apart.
