why is it easier to swat a fly with an object rather than our own hands?

For the pragmatics of how to kill them:

I squirt them with Windex.

They temporarily fall to ground, and can’t fly. Where I kill them.

Much easier to hit them with a spray, than it is to swat them with a flyswatter.
