There is invariably someone right behind you that does not know you want to back in to a space. It would be so much easier except for the fact that it just doesn’t work very well. Why is that?!

It’s because your back wheels don’t turn.
If you have one of the few cars with rear wheel steering you could park that way.
A lot of things like fork lifts actually do this.
