Why is it so loud after it rains?

As the title says, why is it so loud after it rains? I feel like after or during rain I can hear every car on the road in a 3 mile radius. Sound seems to travel farther and I can even hear people talking down the road.

Also wet roads are noisier than dry roads because each tire lifts some water drops which then make some noise when they fall back down
