Why is it so much easier to fall back asleep when you just got up when compared to just falling asleep?

I’ve noticed it is much easier to fall asleep when I just got up for a bathroom visit in the middle of the night than when you try to fall asleep for the ‘first time’. How come? I’m assuming it has something to do with your brain but I’m not sure so I thought I’d just ask here.

You are still half asleep and havent done anything to start producing energy or waking up such as eating, opening the curtains, stretching ect.
Throughout the day you produce and build up energy and have to usually wind down and slow brain activity before going to sleep.

Not true for everyone. Some people wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back asleep at all.
