Why is it so much easier to open things when using your teeth?

Title. It’s hard to open packets with 2 hands aka using your fingers even though they are grip machines. But put it in between your teeth and it’s like magic. Why oh why?

Your jaw is very strong and so are your teeth, i swear the human jaw is something like 65nm, teeth are only good if well maintained, they have to take a lot of cyclic compressive loads from various foods of different hardness, this is why you should care for your teeth, they lose the capacity to take those loads.

Teeth are sharp. This means they’re better at biting into slippery stuff. Think how ice skates work. Hands and fingers are designed to get a grip on larger things, on a smaller thing like a ketchup packet they don’t have a big enough grip area and end up slipping

Teeth have a much smaller contact area than fingers, and jaws are much stronger than muscles that close the fingers. Also, teeth are sharp!

Your teeth are made from the hardest material that naturally occurs within your body and your jaw is one of the most heavily muscled apparatuses within your body.
