Why is it so much harder rot blow up the long straight balloons than the round ones?

The short answer is that you apply the same pressure from your lungs in both of them, but the round balloon has more surface, so it integrates more force as f = p * s. That leads to the fact that with the pressure you have to put to start inflating the cylindrical one, the round balloon would have start long before and very easily. So the correct answer is: ‘because long balloons have a much smaller surface’. In the same way, a cylindrical balloon is hard to start, but once is starts, it goes pretty easy since it has become spherical (more or less) and has more surface to put the pressure on.
