Why is it that red LED lights appear darker/dimmer than other LED light settings?

Red is at ONE extreme of the visible light spectrum for humans. If you follow the rainbow you see Red at one end and violet/purple at the other. Beyond them are the infrared and ultraviolet light spectrums that we can’t see at all

So while we can see red and violet, they’re just getting to the far edges of what we can see.

In addition, if you ever wondered why the sky is blue it’s because the light spectrum closer to ultraviolet can more easily bounce off particles such as those in the air. We see blue rather than violet because of how close violet is to the spectrum we can’t see. At the opposite end, red is less likely to do this, so it can appear even darker than violet.
