Hi all: Why is it that we have a dozen or so different electromagnetic wave types and yet every one of them can be used for analog and digital communication?

Analog and digital are just interpretations of a signal. There isn’t anything special about the underlying wave.

It’s sort of like how sound can be used for different alphabets
