During the day when it’s warm. The warm air will rise up into the atmosphere. This leaves behind an area of lower air pressure on the ground, and air will move to equalise that pressure. Sort of like when you have high pressure air inside of a balloon and you let go of the tip. The air rushes out of the balloon to equalise the pressure inside and outside of it.
