why is peer learning effective?

I currently attend a P2P learning school. The advantage is, that everyone has their paste. In normal class, some people will be ahead (and bored) and some behind (requiring you to have an outside tutor).
P2P supports critical thinking, cooperation and deep understanding of the topic. If you are teaching it someone else, you are learning it yourself even more.
Don’t like someone from your peers? Ask someone else.
Don’t you like your teacher? Well that a bummer.. you are stuck with them.
