Every rainbow, and in every picture of a rainbow I’ve seen, the sky is always lighter “inside” the rainbow than on the “outside.” What, specifically, is causing this? I understand the basics of light reflection and refraction, but my knowledge is limited and I don’t get the specific mechanisms at play here. Thanks!
