>Why is the Fibbonacci Spiral important?
It’s not, but it’s a fun concept and easy to understand, so people spread it around. I had a combinatorics professor who hated having to teach a section on it and joked that, “people who obsess over the Fibonacci sequence are the same people that gets digits of pi tattooed around their arm.” There *are* uses for it, but several of the examples people give are unfortunately fake (e.g. people simply stretching the spiral to fit some vague curve). Some artists have *chosen* to use it because it makes things more eye-catching, but it’s not out of any importance to math or God or anything like that.
>The memes have me curious honestly.
Remember that mathematicians aren’t typically the ones spreading the memes 😉 You’d see a lot more “ε < 0” memes otherwise.
