When all decisions/emotions/attractions/thoughts etc. originate form the brain, why do people use “heart” in such contexts?

I assume likely because of the whole “my chest hurts” thing that happens when emotionally hurt. It’s called “heartache” for a reason

It’s not actually your *heart* hurting, but it **feels** like it’s the heart, so that’s enough for it to be thought of as true
